TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This document contains a summary of some of the Rental Conditions. For full detailed Conditions refer to the Rental Agreement on pick-up. Please note all prices quoted in this document are in New Zealand dollars. Rates and Conditions quoted in our brochures and/or documentation are subject to change without notice.

Rates include:

• Unlimited kilometres
• Insurance Goods & Services Tax (12.5%)
• A.A. 24 hour Roadside Assistance.
• A selection of Local and National maps
• Rates are negotiable for longer-term hires.

Excess Options:

OVER 21 INSURANCE OPTIONS

Option 1 : Insurance excess $900.00 (NZD)
Option 2 : Insurance excess $100.00, Pay Additional $10.00 (NZD) per day
(NOTE: This option does not cover window and tyre damage)

CAR HIRE NEW ZEALAND RECOMMENDS OUR CUSTOMERS CONSIDER TAKING THE EXCESS REDUCTION OPTION TO MINIMISE RISK AND TRAVEL WITH PEACE OF MIND.

Exclusions:

Excess options do not cover water submersion or salt-water damage. All excess options are void if the terms of the rental agreement are breached.

Bond

A bond is required for all hires. You will be asked to sign a separate security bond in the form of a credit card imprint. This bond is held by Car Hire New Zealand and is not banked; it is our guarantee that the vehicle will be returned on time and in the condition that it was hired in.

Payment

Full payment is required at time of hire.

One-Way Hires

Please note that on one-way hires a minimum period may apply. Please contact our reservation staff for more details.

Rental Duration

24 hours from time of pick-up.

Tax

Goods and Services Tax (G.S.T) of 12.5% is included in all daily hire prices.

Early Returns

There are no refunds for early returns. Returning a hired vehicle early may incur a penalty equivalent to 1 days hire. The daily rate on any discounted or special hires may be recalculated at rack rates.

Child and Baby Seats

Child seats are now compulsory on New Zealand roads (for children under 5 years of age). These can be requested at the time of making your reservation and are subject to availability.

After Hours Pick Up and Drop Offs

After hours pick up and drop offs can be arranged through our reservations team and may incur an additional charge.

Cancellations

The 10% deposit to secure the vehicle rental is non refundable.

Ferry Reservations

If clients are travelling between the North and South Island with a Car Hire New Zealand rental vehicle, we are happy to assist with your ferry booking and recommend advanced bookings between peak seasons (November through to March) The approximate time to cross by ferry is 3 hours.

Age Restrictions

Drivers must be 21 years of age.

Infringements

We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, associated administration costs and / or accidents incurring third party property damage reported on return of the vehicle.

ROAD RESTRICTIONS

No vehicle shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook), North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula) and Tapu-Coroglen Road (Coromandel Peninsula).
Car Hire New Zealand reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.

CHANGE OF VEHICLE

Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, Car Hire New Zealand reserves the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund.

VEHICLE CATEGORY

Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category.

VOLUNTARY DOWNGRADE

Should the hirer decide to take a smaller vehicle than booked they will not be entitled to any refund.

IMPORTANT

Car Hire New Zealand reserves the right to refuse any rental at its discretion.

ANIMALS

No animals are permitted in our vehicles, excluding guide dogs.

DISCLAIMER

Illustrations and text in any of our brochures or website are a representation only of the vehicle depicted. Variances in the vehicles offered for rental may occur due to substitutions made by Car Hire New Zealand or modifications and/or upgrades to the vehicle design made by the manufacturer.
